MGD Los Angeles - Elevated Korean BBQ Infusion In the Heart of Chinatown

MGD Los Angeles - Elevated Korean BBQ Infusion In the Heart of Chinatown

Dining out in Los Angeles has slowed down the previous year due to COVID restrictions. With many restaurants struggling to stay afloat there are others that have restructured to our present times. MGD Express is a Korean BBQ joint that recently opened in Downtown Los Angeles that is changing the way we experience KBBQ!

They are THE only independent Korean BBQ restaurant in Los Angeles that has a drive-through! Located at 686 North Spring Street (in the heart of Chinatown) the restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 am to 7 pm. The establishment is giving customers the same KBBQ taste we know and love: to-go!

MGD can be considered Korean fusion and delivers a true KBBQ experience to-go! The menu (which can be seen here) thrives off of its unique dishes including a Bulgogi Marinated Chicken plate, a Loco Moco plate with a house-made Kimchi gravy, and Loaded Brisket Tots using a Gochujang sauce just to name a few.

“The idea is to give guests a true KBBQ experience at a more affordable price point with bigger portions,” states Ryan Eleco, Executive Chef of MGD. “People are gearing more towards take-out and that’s exactly what we are doing. An elevated KBBQ experience to-go!”

Personally, I love a good KBBQ experience and MGD does a solid take. Each of the plates are served with the standard sides such as kimchi (which is DELICIOUS here) rice, macaroni salad. The brand also doesn’t skimp on the sauces. In fact, there are more options here than your average. Bulgogi Soy and Sriracha Chipotle are two must haves additional sauces include Chile Verde, white garlic, Chimichurri, and more.

The Kalbi Short Ribs is thinly sliced, bone-in short rib marinated in house Korean kalbi sauce. The Pork plate is grilled pork collar meat marinated with house Korean BBQ marinade. The Loaded Loco Moco Tots are made with bulgogi-marinated beef patty topped with nacho cheese, jalapenos, fried egg, and kimchee gravy sauce with sriracha chipotle on the side. This is a GREAT way to dive in to the many different culinary options MGD offers as its unique, delicious, and is a solid display of the elevated menu. Regardless of your preference, you can’t go wrong here.

MGD is also opening a sit-down location at The Row on Harbor in Orange County and another location in Northridge as well.

Create a KBBQ night in the comfort of your own home with signature dishes from MGD! You won’t be disappointed!
