Mr. T Los Angeles Restaurant Review - Transport to Paris in One Bite

Mr. T Los Angeles Restaurant Review - Transport to Paris in One Bite

Los Angeles certainly has a plethora of restaurants to rave about. However, very few offer the triple threat - ambiance, delicious sips and bites, and an impressive music selection – however, Mr. T excels at all aspects. Mr. T is the new kid on the block. Nestled along Sycamore Street and surrounded by other local favorites such as Gigi’s and the swanky Mother Tongue, the dim yet sexy French bistro puts the culture of Paris and French cuisine to center stage.

The Thai Crudio was spectacular! Refreshing, light, and bursting with flavor. 10/10! Photo Courtesy of Carolina Bonetti.

Although short, the menu is satisfying, to say the least, and will transform you back to the sultry streets of Paris. Some of the items on the menu in Los Angeles mimic the Parisian location with a stellar presentation to match.

The Lamb Kebab came to the table literally on fire! This was also the most tender cuts of lamb atop a variety of flavors for a smoky finish. Photo Courtesy of Carolina Bonetti.

The concept of Mr. T was created by French restaurateur Guillaume Guedj. Guests can expect a skim yet impressive menu full of high-quality bites that are mainly French-fuision with hints of Moroccan and Thai influence. The offerings will please every guest with an in-demand cocktail selection. The restaurant was created with partner Chef Tsuyoshi Miyazaki, who is dedicated to highlighting street food in an elegant and elevated interpretation. The goal is to invite diners on a culinary journey for the palette with what they have denoted as “New French.”

When it comes to the menu, order a few dishes to share family style. For starters, the lamb kebab is a small plate of pillowy goodness. Layers of tender roasted lamb are topped with tzatziki and spicy aioli which are then infused with burning rosemary that arrives tableside in a cloud of smoke. The smoky flavor is the perfect accompaniment to slight heat from the aioli complete with the cool crisp of the tzatziki. The Thai Crudo is an easy favorite. Hawaiian kampachi topped with vinaigrette, persimmon, and jalapeno oil. It’s fresh with a touch of citrus lime that is light, crisp, and clean.

Name a better duo - I’ll wait! The Steak Sauce Bordelaise is served with bone marrow topped with shallot jam! Photo Courtesy of Carolina Bonetti.

At Mr. T, you can expect to see a few dishes that are brought to ablaze tableside – let the famous French Mac N Cheese, be your pick. Rigatoni, truffle, and mushroom melt with wild mushroom and a comté cheese flambé that is torched and crisped table side. The ooey-gooey dish is simply divine and a must-order for every occasion. Nothing screams decadence than the Steak Sauce Bordelaise. Generous tender hangar steak is topped with shallot jam, celery root puree, carrots, and bone marrow. Steak AND bone marrow - yes, please!

The sweetest finisher to a solid meal. This sweet treat was basically a handheld Ferro Rocher. Photo Courtesy of Carolina Bonetti.

The original Mr. T is a small, understated spot in the Marais district of Paris, however, in Hollywood, the restaurateurs are providing enticing scenes and bites that are worth the hype. Grab your friends and head to the patio where you’ll be surrounded by bistro lights, cozy booths, and inviting fireplaces while you await for your culinary journey to begin.
