John Mellencamp, Pete Townshend, CeeLo Green, Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and Phil Collen & More Music Icons Take the Stage at Primary Wave Pre-GRAMMY Party

Primary Wave Music, the leading independent publisher of iconic and legendary music in the world, hosted its annual Pre-GRAMMY Party in partnership with VENU at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. The highly anticipated, star-studded evening brought together music’s most influential artists, creators, and industry leaders to celebrate music’s biggest night and Primary Wave’s milestone 20-year journey.

Grammy-nominated Trombone Shorty and his band opened the party with a New Orleans second line through the building. Guests then crowded the stage as a slew of music icons performed some of their classic hits. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Pete Townshend kicked off the night with “Let My Love Open the Door,” and closed the six-song set with, “Won’t Get Fooled Again.” Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott and Phil Collen brought their house down with “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” with the crowd singing along. Finally, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Mellencamp, performing with a guitar player and violinist, took the crowd down memory lane with fan favorites, “Jack & Diane,”Pink Houses,” Hurt So Good,” and more. Providing the night’s soundtrack, CeeLo Green and Grandmaster Flash, the Architect of Hip Hop spun two iconic sets across the main stage and the rooftop. Throughout the evening, guests were treated to unforgettable moments honoring Primary Wave’s legendary roster and expansive catalog of more than 1,000 Top 10 singles and over 400 No. 1 hits spanning the history of recorded music.

In a show-stopping moment, Trombone Shorty and his band marched their live performance from the stage straight onto the blue carpet, surprising guests and bringing the energy with them as they moved through the party.

Other attendees included Christian Louboutin, Danny Elfman, Faith Evans, Eric Benét, Jen Su, Jessica Jarrell, Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Leo Sayer, Willie “Prophet” Stiggers and many more.

The Primary Wave Pre-GRAMMY Party was presented by VENU, a premier owner, operator, and developer of luxury, experience-driven entertainment destinations, marking the beginning of an exciting new partnership focused on bringing artist-inspired experiences to VENU’s premium venues nationwide. Additional sponsors included ASCAP, Borghetti, Fernet-Branca, FIJI Water, JUSTIN Wine, Morgan Stanley Global Sports & Entertainment.

The annual Pre-GRAMMY celebration once again solidified Primary Wave’s reputation for honoring music legends, fostering community, and creating unforgettable moments at the intersection of culture, creativity, and legacy.
