Don Johnson, Katey Sagal, Paris Barclay, Anthony Bracy, LAFLA - Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles Access to Justice Gala
More than 500 guests gathered at the iconic Beverly Wilshire Hotel to support the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. Joseph B. Farrell, partner, Latham & Watkins, served as Dinner Chair.
Every year, LAFLA’s free, high-quality legal services impact more than 100,000 people living in poverty across Greater Los Angeles. Its unique combination of neighborhood offices, self-help centers at courthouses, domestic violence clinics, and medical-legal partnerships puts LAFLA on the front lines in underserved communities and at the forefront of change.
Heartfelt testimonials were shared by Burke, a makeup artist who fought a ten-year battle for disability benefits; survivors of the Palisades and Eaton wildfires; and Anthony Bracy, a formerly incarcerated firefighter and participant in the Forestry and Fire Recruitment Program (FFRP) who aided in the wildfire recovery effort. After receiving record-clearing services from LAFLA, Anthony was allowed to pursue his firefighting career in Los Angeles. Each of these individuals received free legal services from LAFLA, underscoring the life-changing impact of the organization’s work.
Golden Globe-winning actor and musician Katey Sagal served as Emcee of the gala. The Access to Justice Award was presented by Golden Globe winner Don Johnson and given to Paris Barclay, two-time Emmy Award-winning director, producer, and writer. Glenn Pomerantz, Partner, Munger, Tolles & Olson received the Maynard Toll Award for Distinguished Public Service, and Jack Londen and Morrison Foerster, Senior Of Counsel, was awarded the Pro Bono Service Award. Guests enjoyed dinner, a silent auction, and live music by the Dolo Coker Band.
The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) is a nonprofit law firm that protects and advances the rights of the most underserved – leveling the playing field and ensuring that everyone can have access to the justice system regardless of income.
