The Victorian in Santa Monica Restaurant Review - More Than Just a Night Out

The Victorian in Santa Monica Restaurant Review - More Than Just a Night Out

If you’ve been to Santa Monica, then chances are you’ve spent a decent amount of time at some point at The Victorian. The iconic Santa Monica hotspot is more than an evening of debauchery, they also have a full kitchen and serve up some delectable bites! We had the chance to try a few bites for their recovery brunch, and let’s just say we’re definitely circling back.

Located on Main Street just a block away from the beach, The Victorian has it all. Boasting three full floors of DJ lineups every weekend. Its extensive wine and cocktail menu plus a Mediterranean-influenced classic American menu makes it a favorite spot for weekday happy hours and weekend brunch. The hotspot knows its clientele and offers a “recovery brunch,” which starts at 2 pm! Now you can have eggs after your night of debauchery and no one will judge you.

The brunch menu boasts a few classics such as a veggie omelet, french toast, breakfast burrito, and egg tacos. However, if you’re feeling adventurous there is a breakfast pizza which is composed of creme fraiche, potatoes, lardons, egg, potatoes, and mozzarella. If you can’t tell, The Victorian is a place of no judgments. Grab the pizza and live your best life!

Although brunch is a staple, I’d opt to try a few of their other bites as they were (personally) more enticing. The fries were a crowd favorite, and as simple as it seems, The Victorian has nailed down the recipe. The garlic fritters were crisped balls of goodness and served atop pesto with a side of spicy tomato sauce. These poppers were addicting. The steak and fries were a pleasant surprise! The steak was cooked to perfection, and the chimichurri sauce was some of the best on the west side. I’d also recommend trying new innovative dishes such as the pork bao or the mango shrimp ceviche! Whatever you opt for, save room for dessert!

If you take one thing from this review, it’s to order the basque cheesecake! The cheesecake was unforgettable and served with berries on top. Charred on the outside for a buttery yet caramelized texture, the interior was a rich melt-in-your-mouth flow of flavors. Simply delicious and hands down one of the best cheesecakes!

For drinks, you can’t go wrong with a classic vanilla espresso martini - especially when you need a pick-me-up! The “Spicy Betch” was also notable! “Tits Out its Sunny,” appears to be a crowd favorite. Composed of rum, orange juice, orgeat, and vanilla this beverage is one to try. The Victorian has an impressive cocktail menu and the presentation of drinks are certainly instagrammable.

Apart from its brunch, the hotspot has a different vibe each day of the week and offers a variety of activities. From Thursday onwards, The Victorian has a slew of activities. Enjoy weekday happy hour (from 5:00-7:00), dinner, weekend brunch and more -- all at The Victorian!
