Tribeca Film Festival Something Else Review - Jeremy Gardner and Christian Stella Take A Chance on An Semi-Interesting Monstrous Rom Com

Heartache is no easy fete however according to Jeremy Gardner it's a twisted tale of events. Something Else recently made its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival and is a story of love, heart ache, and just how far will one go for the love of your life.

Produced by Rustic Films, Something Else stars Jeremy Gardner (The Battery), writer/co-director/actor Christian Stella, co-director and Brea Grant ("Dexter", "Heroes") as one of the main actors.. Watching Gardner go through his heartbreak is all too real. From grief and depression to reflecting on the good times, the story goes through the many stages of his daunting relationship. Oh, did we mention there is a monster trying to break through his front door every night. As if battling your emotions wasn't difficult enough.

For small-town bar owner Hank, his 10-year relationship with Abby has been storybook-quality. Abby, however, wants more: marriage, to be exact, which Hank doesn’t seem ready to initiate anytime soon. As a result, she leaves him without so much as a note or any subsequent communication. Hank is crushed. Even worse, Abby’s departure seemingly triggers the arrival of an unseen monster that claws at Hank’s front door at night. As the nocturnal threat intensifies, Hank must figure out how to not only save his relationship, but also himself.

In the end, through perserverance Hank came out on top and learned more than he bargained for however, in my opinion this movie fell flat from what could have been. I did admire the chances it took to create a unique piece as it fills a niche that hasn't quite been done as it's not your average rom-com.  The film is worth a look. It has charming, introspective traits about love, loss, and inner monsters, however expectations weren't met.

There’s still one more chance to see the film incase you missed it!
