KAABOO Del Mar - Pure 90s Nostalgia on Day One of The Festival

Day one of KAABOO was nothing short of amazing! Top acts were Maren Morris, Boyz II Men, Andrew McMahon and The Wilderness, Snoop Dogg & Wu Tang Clan.

The fest has always been a local favorite as it flawlessly caters to every audience without being too overbearing! With such a diverse lineup its no wonder why the show sold out - again!

Vintage Trouble kicked off the day with a contagious act that beamed personality! The love-able band has always found a way to connect with the crowd and this time around the high-energy performance even included a crowd surf! Later in the day Maren Morris took over the stage and delivered a heartfelt performance that allowed the audience to connect with her on a deeper level.

“I was dating a super insecure loser,” Morris said of the inspiration for her song “To Hell and Back.” “Never again will I be with someone who wants to water me down,” Morris added. The outspoken advocate for women in country music also told a brief story about how a man in the music industry told her not to release the song “I Could Use a Love Song,” telling the artist that he didn’t think anyone wanted to hear sad women coming out of their radio. Morris joked that the single made it to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart and that guy no longer has a job.

Boyz II Men brought the crowd back in time! They're simply timeless! Eager fans began to chant for the '90s R&B group prior to their set time. Original members Shawn Stockman, Nathan Morris and Wanya Morris came out in all-white outfits and immediately launched into 1991 hit “Motownphilly.” The boyband brought out their hits from the legendary harmonies of “On Bended Knee” and “So Hard to Say Goodbye.” A true, classic!

As the sun set and the evening came to a close the energy of KAABOO was steadily rising. Rap moguls Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dogg closed down the second largest stage of the festival.
It wouldn't be a true Snoop Dogg concert if there wasn't weed in the air and pole dancers! The crowd busted out in cheers for Snoop’s greatest hits including “Nuthin’ But G Thing,” “Tha Shiznit,” “All I Do Is Win” and "P.I.M.P.” During “Next Episode” Snoop yelled for the music to stop, halted the show to take a puff of his blunt and asked the crowd, “What the fuck do we do every day?” As the track played on, the crowd responded “smoke weed every day.”

Night one may be over but the fun has just begun! Be sure to tune into our IG (@identify_LA) to catch our favorite times at KAABOO!
