Giving Tuesday with Thrive Causemetics x Beauty 2 The Streetz

Thrive Causemetics is a well known force in the beauty space, developing some of the most high-tech yet beautiful, functional, and easy to use makeup and skincare products. Not to mention all of their products are Vegan, 100% cruelty-free formulas containing proven ingredients without the use of parabens or sulfates.

Thrive Causemetics is also Bigger Than Beauty™️: For every product purchased, they donate to help communities thrive. Each year Thrive Causemetics partners with countless Giving Partners, and all of their makeup products are named after powerful and inspiring women in the community. To date they have more than 500 non-profit Giving Partners and in 2022 alone Thrive Causemetics  donated over $135 in products and funds to these giving partners. (For more information on their giving intiaitives, please see their 2022 Impact Report).

One of their local LA-based Giving Partners is Beauty 2 The Streetz, founded by Shirley Raines. Shirley is also a Brilliant Face Highlighter Skin Protecting Powder Namesake. Shirley will be the first to tell people that Thrive Causemetics has been one of their “day one supporters.” Thrive Causemetics and their CEO and Foudner Karissa Bodnar have continually supported Beauty 2 The Streetz. Since 2017 they have donated over $1.4 million in products + funds to the organization, and worked closely with Shirley to develop the Filtered Effects Protecting Primer SPF 37

On Giving Tuesday this year, Karissa Bodnar brought much of her Thrive Causemetics team, community members, and even other Giving Partners to Skid Row to volunteer with Shirley Raines and Beauty 2 The Streetz. Together they passed out hot meals, clothing, personal supplies and even provided services such as haircuts, colors and grooming to the community here. This has been the first time Thrive Causemetics has been able to volunteer alongside their VIP Giving Partner and it was a very special experience to witness.

Shirley Raines, founder of Beauty 2 the Streetz, started off fully funded by her own pocket, and sheʼll be the first to tell you she isnʼt rich but what she has we all have. Between herself, her team, friends, family, and the kindness of strangers sheʼs able to not only feed 400 plus people but also offer showers, hair wash and color, make-up, wigs, and most importantly connection. In December 2021 Shirley was named a CNN Hero for providing food, clothing, and other necessities to Skid Row's homeless community. By documenting the real people she serves, the conditions they live in, and making that human connection, sheʼs brought a new sense of awareness to the epidemic of homelessness. The people of skid row are just like everyone else, they are people who have fallen on hard times who didnʼt have that lifeline to pull them out. Shirley is a beacon of hope in LAʼs ever-increasing homeless population. Every week, rain or shine, she and her team come out to share a hot home-cooked meal, conversation, and most importantly connection.
