Cinespia Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Iconic Lineup

Cinespia Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Iconic Lineup

Cinespia, Los Angeles’ longest-running outdoor film series presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, marks its 25th season in 2026, celebrating a quarter century of redefining the moviegoing experience in the city where cinema was born. This year, Cinespia is launching the milestone summer slate with more iconic films such as E.T., Moulin Rouge, and Mulholland Drive. Cinespia is also partnering with See’s Candies in honor of their 105th anniversary and Cinespia’s 25th season on a specially branded candy box sold exclusively at Cinespia screenings.

Additional screenings for the 25th season will be announced soon.

What began in 2002 as a single screening of Strangers on a Train on the Fairbanks Lawn at Hollywood Forever Cemetery has grown into one of the city’s most enduring cultural institutions. Founded by John Wyatt, Cinespia now welcomes hundreds of thousands of moviegoers, hosting screenings and events across landmark venues including Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the Los Angeles Theatre, the Greek Theatre, the Rose Bowl and Los Angeles Historic Park.

Over the past 25 years, Cinespia has become synonymous with large-scale communal film experiences, transforming outdoor cinema into a defining element of Los Angeles culture. With audiences of up to 4,000 guests per night, the series has expanded while maintaining its original spirit, blending film, music, and immersive event production.

“Reaching 25 years is both surreal and incredibly meaningful and we are very thankful to Los Angeles and our customers for their support,” said John Wyatt, founder of Cinespia. “What started as a simple idea, to watch great films with others in a unique setting, has grown into something much bigger. At its core, Cinespia has always been about shared experience and connection, and that’s what continues to bring people back year after year.”

Saturday, May 23rd - E.T. at Hollywood Forever Cemetery:

Our 25th season premieres with one of the most beloved films ever. A boy’s best friend is his alien in Spielberg’s ultimate heartstring-puller that proves you can phone home again. Young boy Elliott loves his new friend to the moon and back, and protects him at all costs. Plus, that alien looks great in a  wig! With DJ sets and a sky-high Free Photobooth, you'll feel like you're biking on air. I’m not glowing, you’re glowing!

Sunday, May 24th - Moulin Rouge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery:

“Spectacular, spectacular” doesn’t even begin to describe Baz Luhrmann’s glittering and intoxicating jukebox masterpiece with your favorite songs, your favorite stars, and your favorite subject: l’amour. More is more as we bring Parisian excess to Los Angeles, with DJ sets, a beer and wine bar, and a photobooth that’ll have you over the moon. Dress in your Lady Marmalade best and follow the green fairy to a dazzling night, come what may.

Saturday, May 30th - Mulholland Drive at Hollywood Forever Cemetery:

It’s a classic Hollywood story: a bright-eyed starlet arrives in LA chasing fame…and finds  sapphic companionship, a mysterious blue box, and a club that offers anything but silencio. Okay—maybe it’s not the Hollywood story you were expecting, but that’s David Lynch for ya. Dreamy, eerie, and gloriously baffling, it’s the kind of movie you’ll be thinking about long after the band stops playing (no hay banda!). Screened at the site of Lynch’s final resting place, join us for an otherworldly and immaculate tribute 25 years in the making.

Since its inception, Cinespia has hosted filmmakers, actors, and cultural figures, becoming a staple of the entertainment community and a recognized symbol of Los Angeles nightlife. The series has been widely covered by major outlets and remains a consistent fixture in the city’s cultural calendar.

Beyond screenings, Cinespia has developed a signature event format that extends into music, design, and interactive experiences—featuring live DJ sets, themed photo moments, and large-scale celebrations that attract a multigenerational audience. Annual traditions, including Halloween and Valentine’s Day events, have further cemented its role as a year-round destination.
