Identify LA: What trends do you foresee in the summer/fall 2021/22?

Larisa Love: I believe some fun trends we will see in the fall and the new year are adding in hair accessories, high contrast color blocking, natural vivid tones, feathered layers, and beautiful copper-red hair color tones. Hair accessories such as feathers, are starting to trend right now in summer 2021. High contrast colors and color blocking have been trending but I believe these two things put together as high contrast color blocking is going to be the next big thing. Natural vivid tones are an awesome way to have a bright fun look with a natural color that isn’t too crazy. The 70’s haircut has been trending with its curtain bangs but this is why I think feathered layers will come back too. Who doesn’t love a copper-red hair color in the fall?

IDLA: How often can people dye their hair and avoid damage?

LL: Avoiding damage is all truly done with your stylist being educated and educating you. If your stylist does not know how to properly color the client's hair to avoid damage and educate the client on how to take care of the hair afterwards then damage will happen. Every stylist should know and explain what limits their clients' hair can handle and what their clients hair needs to be beautiful.

IDLA: Biggest myth when it comes to hair care?

LL: One of the biggest myths is that not getting trims frequently enough will help your hair grow. If you do not get trims regularly then the ends of your hair will keep breaking off. If they keep breaking then when the hair at the sculpt grows it will not matter because the ends are still breaking off.

IDLA: Number one product you swear by?

LL: Joico’s Heat Hero is one of the most important products to have. This is an aerosol spray, which will protect the hair from heat damage like blow drying and any hot tool styling. This product is a lightweight spray that does not just protect from heat tools but outdoors pollution too. This product gives the hair shine, is paraben free, helps mend split ends, and has moringa seed oil creating healthy and strong hair.

IDLA: How to keep your hair happy and healthy while on vacation?

LL: Keeping hair healthy on vacation can be hard to do when out of your daily elements. Try to bring your professional hair products with specialty moisturizing products if you know you are going to be in water and a lot of sun. You may want to wear hats if you know you will be in the sun to protect your hair from the sun. If you are going swimming then you can braid the hair to help protect the hair and help keep your tamed. Make sure to wash your hair and moisturize the hair as soon as possible after being in the water. Moisture shampoo, conditioner, creams, oil, and leave in are great to help hydrate the hair after salt water or chlorine
