The Yamashiro Hollywood Night Market returns for its 10th year on May 2nd. Every Thursday from May 2 to September 26, the Hollywood Night Market features 30 local food vendors like Cousin's Maine Lobster, Afters Ice Cream, Broad Street Oysters, Eat Love, Kai Kai Dumplings and much more. All in addition to local musicians, activities for kids and live art installations set with one of the best views of the city as the backdrop.

Beach Life Festival:

The BeachLife Festival, Los Angeles’ first oceanfront multi-day festival event, just keeps getting better! BeachLife is proud to announce the addition of Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jason Mraz, Southern California reggae-rock favorites Slightly Stoopid, indie-folk trailblazers Dawes, easy-going jam-rockers Big Head Todd and The Monsters, plus reggae rising stars Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds, and tropical songstress Anuhea, to accompany the already stacked lineup of artists performing the weekend of May 3-5, 2019. The artist additions will join previously announced legendary music headliners Brian Wilson (founding member of the Beach Boys) with guests Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin, Bob Weir and Wolf Bros., and Willie Nelson and Family along with Ziggy Marley, Violent Femmes, Steel Pulse, Grace Potter, Blues Traveler, Bruce Hornsby, Everclear, Chevy Metal, Sugar Ray, and Donavon Frankenreiter, and many more for an immersive festival experience celebrating the legacy and culture of Southern California’s iconic beach lifestyle. Kaz Bielinski at the Whiskey a Go Go:

Cinco de Mayo at Gracias Madre:

Open: Plant-based Mexican restaurant Gracias Madre in West Hollywood has announced a huge Cinco de Mayo party that will feature a pop-up margarita garden, mariachi band, DJs, and an amazing list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options for the event on May 5th.

The event will take place from 11am-10pm next to the restaurant on the corner of La Peer and Melrose and is free / open to the public for those 21+.

Local Natives x Homestate:

Open —Local Natives invite guests to visit “Café Amarillo at HomeState” on Wednesday, May 8th to raise funds and awareness for homelessness in the area. For one day only, the band will transform the restaurant into ‘Café Amarillo,’ named after their “shimmering” (Stereogum) recent single. During the takeover, guests can order HomeState’s latest Band Taco, The Local Native Taco (potato, bacon, egg, cheddar, jalapeño, pico de gallo on a house made flour tortilla), 100% of the proceeds from which will benefit PATH, a local non-profit whose mission is to end homelessness through affordable supportive housing and supportive services throughout California. The takeover culminates in a charity celebration hosted by the band and includes a special, stripped down, live performance that evening for a limited number of PATH donors who donate $15 or more at HomeState over the course of that day. Local Natives are the latest group to take part in HomeState’s Band Taco Program; past artists include Questlove, Spoon and Sylvan Esso, to name a few.

Womenswear brand M.M.LaFleur has opened a pop-up shop at The Beverly Center during the month of May. Now through May 27th, Los Angeles shoppers can visit the pop-up by booking an hour-long appointment in which a personal stylist will put together looks from the M.M. LaFleur collection tailored specific to each woman’s personal style. Appointments can be booked online HERE

We Rise:

WE RISE——will take place in the Downtown LA Arts District Saturday, May 18 through Monday, May 27. This transformative, ten-day event will bring the community together for brave conversations around civil rights and mental wellbeing through engaging speakers, creative expression and interactive workshops. WE RISE is an immersive cultural experience featuring a professionally curated art gallery, live performances, interactive programming and youth engagement to explore issues related to mental health and wellbeing.

WE RISE is free and open to the public each evening and weekends starting Saturday, May 18 through Memorial Day weekend. School day mornings will be reserved for student field trips with specialized curriculum and special guests. Past participants at WE RISE have included musician Kehlani, rapper Common with singer-songwriter Andra Day, athlete Kobe Bryant, rapper Ty Dolla $ign, artist Skid Robot and actress Yara Shahidi. Acqua Panna Water x Meet Me in Tuscany:

Blood & Chocolat is LA’s premier curated straight ahead jazz night brought to you by Aaron Bullock and Earwax Music Group. Blood is our select vintage wines and carefully crafted cocktails. Chocolat is the band led by acclaimed jazz bassist Ian Martin featuring some of the nation’s top jazz musicians including Trevor Laurence on drums, Teodross Avery on sax, Ludo Lewis on trumpet, and Eric “Elew” Lewis on keys. The Blood & Chocolat experience is hosted at Resident DTLA and includes hand-rolled cigars on the outside fire-pit patio, and haute cuisine options provided by KITCHN DTLA Led by Chef Felix Barron IV.
